Rahul Gandhi to visit State Bank to express solidarity with 500 and 1000 Rupee notes

New Delhi: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today announced that he will soon be visiting banks to express solidarity towards 500 and 1000 rupee notes, after the denominations went out of circulation yesterday.

Speaking to media persons Rahul said, “How can the PM do something like this. His surgical strike on these poor notes is a reflection of is mentality. Besahara ho gaye hai ye note. Inko berozgaar kar diya hai Modiji ne. Congress party ki jab sarkar thi, tab humne aisa nahi kiya. Balki humne MNREGA lakar rozgar diya. Lekin ab hum insaaf chahte hai inn noton ke liye,” he thundered.

Party sources say that Rahul will visit banks, petrol pumps and grocery stores and speak to a few notes to understand their situation better. “Rahulji understands the pain of these notes. In just a matter of few hours, the PM has rendered these notes useless. But with a sane voice like that of our Vice-President, hope is not lost. We will oppose this move. If this is not emergency then what is?” questioned a party leader.

The party plans a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about the plight of the notes. A makeshift tent was put up outside State Bank branch in Vasant Vihar where party workers along with Rahul Gandhi will be protesting against the Govt’s latest move.

BJP has not yet given its official response but sources say that the party is watching Rahul’s every move closely.
