Bengaluru. A miffed Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will move the Supreme Court for a stay on Governor Vajubhai Vala’s order to prove majority in the Assembly by 1.30 pm on Friday, said an official. But Yeddyurappa has already claimed victory in the floor test as his MLAs slept on the floor yesterday and the Congress-JDS MLAs did not.
Yesterday was a long day for Karnataka politics. The long day ended with BJP MLAs putting on their pyjamas, spreading mattresses and falling asleep on the floor of the assembly in protest over the delay in the floor test. Yeddyurappa believes that the meaning of the floor test is to test who can spend more time sleeping on the floor like an Aam Aadmi.
He says that his MLAs are more close to the ground and serve the people of Karnataka in a humble manner, unlike the Congress-JDS MLAs. Congress leadership has conveyed to the speaker that if given a second chance they can too sleep on the floor. It is to be seen whether the speaker gives them this chance.
Kumaraswamy has appealed to the Supreme Court to organize an unbiased floor test and then check which MLAs have more capacity to sleep on the floor. Congress-JDS MLAs were meanwhile seen practicing the art of sleeping on the floor.
