Mumbai has many challenges and buying property is definitely the biggest one. Most of the people working in Mumbai have to live far off the city due to unaffordable prices inside the city. Many say that there is a slowdown in the property market but slow down in Mumbai still means you cannot buy property in Mumbai. A Delhi couple though experienced a different problem when they had the required budget to buy a flat but there was no flat available. Akshay and Twinkle who have recently shifted from Delhi wanted an unfurnished flat but they were shocked to hear that all unf=urnished flats in Mumbai have been sold off as furnished ones.
That is exactly what brokers do nowadays. Just providing water pipeline inside the flat makes it a furnished one nowadays. Giving other facilities like gas connection, furniture, and electronic appliances makes it a super furnished flat. All unfurnished property in Mumbai is mostly sold as furnished one. If there is a space to put one table and chair, that space too is sold off as a separate room, so a 1 BHK becomes 1.5 BHK and 2 becomes 2.5 BHK. It is really a difficult task to find an unfurnished flat nowadays in Mumbai.
Akshay and Twinkle are left with no option but to go for the furnished flat which actually would be an unfurnished one with a premium price. Unfurnished flats are a luxury nowadays and people who are able to find one in Mumbai should be considered very lucky. Some of the other features which a broker uses in Mumbai while selling a flat are ‘ Neighbour’s hand cannot come inside your window’, ‘Walking distance from the Railway station ( they don’t specify which station though)’, ‘Brotherhood in the society ( as people can peep inside your flat and talk to you regularly without visiting your place )’ and many more.
