Rajat Sharma’s appointment as DDCA President has not come without criticism. Many now questioning the media veterans credentials for the job and his suitability for the position.
“Never saw him playing cricket ever. How can someone who has anchored a TV show justify being at the top of DDCA. What cricketing skills does he possess which will help cricket in Delhi,” questioned a DDCA insider who didn’t wish to be named.
Congress leader Rajeev Shukla however has a different view and while justifying the appointment said, “Who says Rajatji doesn’t know cricket. He was selected for the post for his ‘fielding’ skills. He had the best ‘fielding’ skills among all the candidates and we have absolutely no doubt that we have made the right choice.”
Cricketer turned commentator Ajay Khanjrekar agreed with Mr. Shukla’s justification and said there are certain skills that need not displayed on the cricket pitch and ‘fielding’ is one of them.
“Aajkal ‘fielding’ ke bina koi kaam nahi hota. Ye skill aapko aa gayi toh aap safalta ka koi bhi muquam paa sakte ho,” he added.
