After another disappointing performance by KL Rahul, a livid Ravi Shastri said that he’s open to the option of having a ‘real’ opener on the team. The opener that the team India coach is referring to is a bottle opener, which he said would be in as a replacement for Rahul.
“What kind of an opener is KL Rahul. If we get a real opener at least I can open my beer bottles with it,” Shastri said while speaking to media persons.
Sources say that the coach is making the best of his trip to Australia by ‘sampling’ various type of beer available in the country and occasionally keeps asking for bottle opener. “KL Rahul is not serving any purpose at the moment. So, yes Ravi Shastri could be right in having an actual bottle opener in the playing eleven,” said a member of the selection committee.
Shastri hinted that he’d replace other players too if the performance was not up to the mark. “I need my batsmen to score runs. If any batsman fails to do so, he will be replaced with chakhna,” he seems to have warned his players during a team meeting.
Many players were seen discussing in hushed voices that just when they had begun to enjoy their trip to Australia, the coach comes up with a diktat.
“We thought this would be more of a vacation and less about the coach pointing fingers at our performance. Khud enjoy kar raha hai Australia tour aur humse performance expect karta hai,” said a player who didn’t wish to be named.
