Violent protests break out in Mumbai against the ongoing protests

03, Jan 2018 By Santosh Pradhan

Several towns and cities in Maharashtra remained on edge as after a day of angry protests, Dalit groups called for a shutdown in the state on Wednesday. The police said they have made elaborate arrangements in view of the call. Many small offices were shut today and bigger ones are waiting for any official communication to react. Our sources have come to know that some of the protests in the morning were not the actual protests, but the protests were carried out to condemn the ongoing protests.

Many unknown faces were thronging the streets and shouting slogans against the ongoing protests in Mumbai. Policemen have assured that any protest march taking place to condemn the main protest will be allowed to go on. The only issue with this circular is that there are chances that the new protests may take a more violent angle compared to the one which started it all.

There are also chances that the new protests will continue for sometime in the future and no one can predict the end date. More and more people are joining the new protests as they think that this is the only way to stop protests in the future. Government is in a soup and doesn’t know which protest to support. Political leaders want to take advantage of the situation but are stuck in a catch 22 situation where they don’t know supporting which protest will yield more political benefit for them. The new protesters have gone through the protest videos to understand the do’s and don’ts of protests as most of them are first timers. It is to be seen in the next 2-3 days whether or not law and order prevail and take matters into its hand.
