BMC to bring MRC (Mumbai Register of Citizens) to identify Dombivali, Mira Road people who write Mumbai in their social media profiles

Mumbai. The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a register containing names of all genuine Indian citizens. At present, only Assam has such a register. But if the government has its say then it will be implemented throughout the country to help trace illegal immigrants.

BMC has decided to bring MRC bill to identify people from Dombivili, Mira Road, Thane, Navi Mumbai who write Mumbai in their social media profiles. The number of such people is increasing day by day as people try to show that they are Mumbaikars. But the reality is completely different as any place beyond Dadar and the suburbs are actually not Mumbai. Mumbaikars were taking great objection in anyone calling himself a Mumbaikar without even living in Mumbai and hence such a bill was necessary.

There were many instances in the past where the Navi Mumbai guy who used to marry in Mumbai used to call it a destination wedding but when it came to his social media profile, he had mentioned Mumbai. BMC will soon make an extensive list of Mumbaikars and outsiders will not be allowed to put Mumbai in their profiles.
