Mumbai. A family of 4 has observed a NO-TV day on a Saturday and ended up watching all the shows in Internet using Hotstar, the same night. Also, it was almost like a marathon TV day for the family on Sunday, it is learnt by Faking News.
“We as a family have strict rules to adhere a NO-TV day, once in a month. Whatever happens during the daytime, we will not switch on the TV. We will catch up on the shows in the night, watching it on Hotstar. This brings the awareness about staying away from the idiot box, for at least one day” a senior member of the family told Faking News.
“Spending time in media is one of the most harmful things that can happen to children and grownups alike. The serials spoil many households in rural and urban India. The reality shows are anything but real with hours of rehearsals before shooting one episode of a show. Shows like bigg boss will bring the worst out of the viewers as well” he further elaborated on the negative reach of the TV shows and serials.
“Our children play with mobile games on the day of NO-TV. TV screens are more harmful by the sheer size of the screen. Then there is social media and whatsapp to keep them occupied during the day. We stay away from international, national and local news for that day. We engage only in neighbourhood gossip with trusted news source, our domestic help. The day would not be that boring as one would expect” the lady of the home told Faking News.
The family also celebrates NO-JUNKFOOD day once in a month and spends the next day eating only pizzas, burgers and samosas, it is learnt by Faking News.
