The global pandemic spread is now in phase 3. And apart from increasing spread among the population, it is also affecting profiles of women on matrimonial sites.

According to a survey conducted by a leading matrimonial site, many women who earlier expressed preference to marry someone who was settled abroad are now looking for grooms based in India.

The sudden change was attributed to countries like America and those in Europe reporting large number of covid cases.

“IT engineers who were working and settled in the US were in high demand. On an average, their profiles got the highest number of visits. Now everything has changed. IAS and Doctors are more in demand now,” the survey.

The Survey also revealed that if the lockdown continued if another few months, even IAS and Doctors would slide down the list of prospective grooms.

“We have seen an increasing number of women showing an inclination towards grocery and wine shop owners. Their page visits have increase exponentially since lockdown. And those numbers are going to increase in the coming months,” said a representative from the matrimonial site.

If the aforementioned stats are true, it could spell doom for IT grooms in the marriage market.

A well-known matchmaker from Delhi remarked how he was asked to hide the groom 4 year stint in the US to get more matches.

“Even those who used to fake American accents earlier to attract more women are now speaking Bhojpuri to hide their travel history,” he said.
