Potholes are of great use in water harvesting: CM Chaitu Lal

25, Feb 2018 By Ad-min

Despite covering about 70% of the Earth’s surface, water, especially drinking water, is not as plentiful as one might think. Only 3% of it is fresh. The situation in cities is much worse with no very few clean water sources left due to urbanization. But CM Chaitu Lal, in his election rallies had promised that he will give utmost priority to the water situation in his state. As a measure to store more rain water, Chaitu Lal has asked his PWD department to maintain the state of potholes and if necessary dig some more.

Potholes are not useless anymore

Some of the potholes in the state are like 20-25 years old and they are so deep that plenty of water can be stored there. This way the necessity of building artificial water storage facilities would be brought down to zero. Soon the government will pass a resolution to make all potholes a heritage site so that no one destroys them. The border surrounding the potholes will be painted in red to make people aware that it is a government property and any harm caused to the pothole will be considered as a criminal offence.

Speaking to Faking News reporter, CM Chaitu Lal had this to say,” Innovation can save a lot of money. Sometimes we spend resources in constructing new structures without giving importance to existing infrastructure. For any system to work properly, the existing processes have to be made efficient. No pothole will be filled in my tenure and I promise to tackle the water situation and set an example for other states to follow.”

This was just one of the many #KyaUlluBanaya instances from Chaitu Lal’s stint as the CM. The jury is out on whether Chaitu Lal is living up to people’s expectations or not, but the audience can expect guaranteed entertainment on STAR PLUS’s new show ‘Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai’ from 26th Feb at 8 PM
