Dates for the World Motorcycle Championship have been announced. The event which is scheduled to take place next month in Argentina will have representation from many countries across the world.
For the first time the event will see participation from India too. Delivery guys from Swiggy, Zomato and Dominos have been roped in for the fiercely fought racing title. A senior official who was instrumental in getting the team together spoke to FN reporter and said, “We had to assemble our team at a very short notice. I have seen these delivery guys driving their bikes on the streets. Squeezing through the traffic at breakneck speed with precision and control. Exactly the kind of skills we need for motocross. There is no doubt that there can be no one better to represent the country. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we win a gold.”
The best ones from these food ordering outlets are now being trained to match the racing standards of international competitions. But many who have seen these delivery guys zoom across on the roads feel that even without any training, these guys have adequate biking skills to compete in any motorcycle championship in the world.
Apparently, the participation of Indian team in the event has sent shivers across other competitors. Some are even choosing not to compete.
Antonio Cairoli, the Motocross champion of 2018 has reportedly dropped out of the race this year citing poor health. But sources close to the ace racer have revealed that Antonio is pretty sure that he’d lose.
Meanwhile, the delivery boys were seen practicing hard for the upcoming race. Hardik (name changed to protect identity), who delivers pizza from Dominos outlet in Mumbai was seen testing his biking skills at the traffic congested Saki Naka junction and even managed to beat his own record of delivering pizza in 30 seconds.
