Rumors of Rishabh Pants career shift started doing the rounds after Bank PO study material was found in his cricket kit. The rumors were partly fueled by the fact that Rishabh has been dropped for the first test against South Africa.
The out-of-form wicket keeper has been replaced by Wriddhiman Saha. The announcement was made today, which led many to speculate if Rishabh still has any future in cricket. Experts say that Rishabh is a career crossroad, where he needs to look at a different career options, one of which could be a career in banking.
Speaking about the study material, a source revealed that a question paper set along with books on Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability were found in Rishabh’s bag. “A support staff also found other study material in his locker. Rishabh has not spoken to anyone about this yet, but clearly there is something going on,” revealed a source.
Rishabh has been facing flak for his performance in West Indies, which prompted coach Ravi Shastri to say that non-performers would face a rap on the knuckles.
He has failed to cement his place as a batsman in the team in spite of getting enough chances. Also, drastically falling short of the wicket-keeping standards set by MS Dhoni.
Rishabh however denied all speculations and said that he was no interested in banking as a career and the study material was mischievously placed by a teammate in his kit.
“This is not the first time that such fake news about me is being peddled. A few weeks back they said I was taking bar-tending lessons to impress coach Shastri. Who comes up with nonsense like this?” he questioned with a hint of indignation.
