Facing flak over number of no-balls bowled in match against Rajasthan Royals yesterday, team management of Mumbai Indians has asked bowler Jasprit Bumrah to wear skis instead of cricket shoes for the next match.
The bowler gave away 18 runs at a crucial juncture in the match which turned the match in the favor of the Royals. A livid MI management called for a post match meeting of team players and it was unanimously decided that Bumrah will be wearing skis for rest of the matches.
Our reporter spoke to captain Rohit Sharma who said, “It’s unbelievable when experience bowlers like Bumrah give away runs like this. We are at the bottom of the points table and we cannot afford to lose matches due to extras. ‘Itne chakke marenge…itne chakke marenge’ kehne se match nahi jeet sakte. We need effort from bowlers too.”
Source say that Bumrah has hesitatingly accepted the decision of the management. The pacer was seen frustratingly practicing his bowling at the net practice this morning. “His run-up and bowling action is not like his earlier one but he has not bowled a single no-ball since morning,” said the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians.
The recent development in MI camp has got other IPL teams worried. Teams who were hopeful that no matter how bad they perform Bumrah will bail them out with this no-balls, are now having a re-look at their match strategy.
