IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said he is not bothered if critics speak ill about the league when viewership and revenue from the event is increasing steadily. Most of the matches in 2018 have been close, with the majority of them ending in the last 2 balls of the match. Viewers feel that so many close matches are actually not possible with such great frequency. Twitter and other social media platforms are filled with allegations of fixing against the IPL governing body. But IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla has come out and clarified that IPL is not fixed at all and has asked people to see the batting of Yusuf Pathan for example.
Yusuf Pathan’s poor run since last 3 years has continued with the batsmen not being able to address his batting flaws and not able to fix his batting problems. According to Rajeev, if a small thing like batting technique is not getting fixed by the players then one should forget about the fixing of whole IPL. Also, Rajeev said that there are few talented writers in the Bollywood industry who could write such interesting ending to the cricket matches and so the chances of fixing at such large levels are completely nil.
Other than Yusuf Pathan Rajeev also took the example of Gautam Gambhir’s facial expressions, Axar Patel’s bowling and Mumbai Indian’s fielding. If all these have not been fixed yet, forget about the tournament being fixed by the governing body with the help of bookies. Rajeev Shukla has also assured the IPL fans that once Yusuf Pathan’s batting technique is fixed he will surely consider the fact that IPL matches can be fixed and will probe the matter accordingly.
