Mumbai: The social media was abuzz, speculating Dhoni’s retirement after he asked for a match-ball from umpires after 3rd England vs India ODI. However, Virat Kohli-led Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has squashed all the speculation, terming them “rubbish” while indicating that Dhoni is not going anywhere. Today even the BCCI officials rejected the rumors that Dhoni is retiring anytime soon. BCCI officials have read the script of the sequel to Dhoni’s biopic and there is a mention of Dhoni’s participation in the 2019 world cup. According to the BCCI officials, it will the violation of Freedom of creative expression if they don’t allow the filmmaker to portray MS’s involvement in the next world cup.
Shwetank Srivastava who heads the legal department of the BCCI spoke to us and had this to say,” We have already given a green signal to the script of the sequel. How can we backtrack on this? The filmmaker can drag us to court if we remove Dhoni from the team. So my suggestion to the fans would be that allow him to play until the 2019 world cup. Anyways ur top 3 batsman are scoring enough runs and Dhoni’s presence is mere because of his extraordinary keeping skills. We have already informed Virat also about our decision and he has promised that MS will be the part of the 2019 squad.”
The news comes as a shock to Dinesh Karthik and Rishab Pant who were seen as able replacements of the former captain cool. Both had started heavy practice and work out regime to book their place in the 2019 squad. But all seems to go down the drain now and as fans we need to support Dhoni for the next year, as that is the only thing we can do.
