New Delhi. Young wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant didn’t have the best of nights during the fourth ODI against Australia in Mohali on Sunday. The Delhi cricketer missed multiple chances behind the stumps and he made matters worse when he tried to pull off a MS Dhoni style back flick to get Alex Carrey run out in the 44th over.
Pant was criticized on Social media and Kohli had to defend him by saying that everyone cannot be MS Dhoni so let’s give Pant some time. Sanjay Bangar and the coaching staff had organized a special session for Pant, but just like the stumpings, he missed the sessions too.
Rishabh Pant has a knack of missing things. In his debut tour of England, he missed scoring well in the first two test matches. It was only after the team reminding him that he has to score runs too, did he start scoring well. Pant is seen as the next big thing in Indian cricket. But his performance in Mohali will surely raise some doubts in the minds of the selectors whether or not to pick him for the World Cup. Pant apologised to the coaching staff for missing the training session and has promised that he will surely attend the next training session.
Kohli and the coaching staff together are planning some rigorous sessions for Pant and it would be great if Pant attends them all and improves his wicket keeping.
