Dinesh Karthik starts waiting for Pant’s retirement

Nottingham, England: Having spent most of his adult life waiting for MS Dhoni’s retirement, Dinesh Karthik has now started waiting for another retirement, that of the debutant Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant replaced Dinesh Karthik in the Indian team for the 3rd Test against England and has scored more in 1 innings than what Karthik managed in his 4 opportunities. His impressive start has convinced Dinesh Karthik that he must now wait for Pant’s retirement before getting another opportunity in Team India.

Dinesh Karthik, who made his debut in 2004, saw his opportunities limited after the arrival of MS Dhoni on the scene. After waiting for Dhoni’s retirement for a decade, he was left heartbroken when Wriddhiman Saha replaced Dhoni in the side ahead of him. Now when Saha’s injury gave him another opportunity, he missed the chance and now saw Rishabh pant grab his opportunity with both hands.

A source inside the Indian dressing room said,” Pant didn’t hit Rashid for a six, he hit all of DK’s hopes and aspirations for a six. But it is ok, DK is used to waiting, he patiently saw the entire Test careers of Dhoni and Saha, he will wait out Pant as well and will return to the team one day. It is just a matter of 10-15 years, will pass by in 2-3 series defeats in England.”

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has advised DK to spread the rumor that he is an allrounder to become a permanent fixture in Test XI.
