IPL teams set to form a Mahagathbandhan to stop Virat Kohli during the playoffs

Bengaluru: Gujarat Lions, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders have decided to come together and form a combined XI in an attempt to stop Virat Kohli and his Royal Challengers Bengaluru side. All 3 teams have sent a signed petition to the IPL management to allow them to form an alliance against Virat Kohli’s bat.

Will this Mahagathbandhan bring down a high flying Kohli?

“It is just not fair what Virat is doing out there. He is destroying our bowlers one by one. Unless we all come together and unite against this man, we will get destroyed. We can either lose individually or win against Virat as a team”, said a member of KKR coaching staff.

Nodding his head in agreement, a Gujarat Lions player said, “We know we finished top of the table but that doesn’t mean we don’t recognize the threat called Virat Kohli. Earlier RCB’s bowling kept helping the other sides out but now even they seem to have tightened up a bit. Looks like there is no other way to stop him but for all of us to come together in a mahagathbandhan.”

When we asked how exactly will this mahagathbandhan work, the Gujarat Lions player said, “We will make one combined XI out of the 3 other remaining sides in the tournament. We will pick the best bowlers remaining. Narine, Mustafizur, Bhuvi, Russell, Bravo etc can be part of that XI and then we will see if Kohli is still good enough to hit a hundred on the day. We won’t rely on bowlers alone though, we will pick best batsmen from all sides as well so that they can chase down whatever score Kohli still manages.”

On being questioned if they are sure this coalition will work, a Sunrisers Hyderabad player replied, “If mahagathbandhan can be successful in politics then why not cricket? We saw how the trio of RJD, JDU and Congress stopped Modi in Bihar. We can similarly stop Kohli in Bengaluru.”

IPL managing committee is yet to respond to this request as all of them were busy congratulating Mr. Rajiv Shukla for a selfie with Tim Cook.
