Pujara told to play county cricket by BCCI to prepare for India's next tour of England

06, Aug 2018 By Santosh Pradhan

Cheteshwar Pujara was left out of India playing XI for the first Test against England at Edgbaston, which the visitors went on to lose by 31 runs. The right-hander’s exclusion raised quite a few eyebrows with many fans slamming the decision. India’s narrow loss further put a spotlight on the team selection and the decision to leave Pujara out. But the team management is pretty serious about their decision. The decision was made to make Pujara more capable batsman when India again tours England after 3- 4 years. Even Pujara has acknowledged the care taken by BCCI in making him a better batsman.

Pujara off late had been criticized both by Shastri and Kohli for playing very slow to their liking and not showing intent. Pujara took it in his stride and went to England to prepare hard for the current series. But then he didn’t score many runs but showed intent. Because nowadays the selection criteria are not runs or performance, but yo-yo test and intent. But still, Pujara failed to get in the playing 11 for the 1st match. He had a chat with Shastri after the match and Shastri clarified to him that they are saving him for the next tour of India to England.

If Pujara is played in this series, the surprise factor will go for a toss as England is well prepared to tackle Pujara’s defense, but playing Pujara in the next series would work wonders for India. Pujara has packed his bags and will play all the remaining county matches. But the only concern here is that whether he will be or will not be in the playing 11 of the county team. Faking News team in England is keeping track on all latest happenings in thsi regard and we will soon come up with more details.
