Colombo: Christmas doesn’t seem to be merry for Alastair Cook and team. After failing to win the series in Bangladesh, England were thrashed 4-0 by India in a 5 match test series. Looking at their recent record in Asia, now even Sri Lanka wants to play them in a 11 test series.
An 11 test match series is unheard of in recent times. We asked Thilanga Sumathipala, the president of SLC about the length of the series. He replied confidently, “We are currently on the 7th spot of ICC test rankings. If we want to be on the top of the table, we will have to play a lot of matches with a weak team. Considering their current form, the English team is our best bet on home turf.”
Once England’s tour of Sri Lanka is over, Zimbabwe ia planning to invite England over after preparing a lot of turning tracks. Zimbabwe is certain that they can get to the top of ICC rankings after this series. Zimbabwe vs England will be a 25 test match series.
Alastair Cook seemed excited as he responded to the news. “This is the first time English team is in so much demand. Nobody gave us so much importance before our travels this year. I want to thank Bangladesh cricket team, their spinners, Virat Kohli, his team and BCCI for getting us so much attention.” Cook said.
While every other team wants to play against England, Australia is planning to cancel their tour of India, which was scheduled in February 2017. Australia will try to stretch the current tour of Pakistan so that they can put together a few comfortable wins after their loss in the series against South Africa.
