Calling it ‘absolutely ridiculous, Indian captain Virat Kohli lashed out at media reports on rift with Rohit Sharma. Speculations were brewing earlier this week over things not going well between the players after Rohit unfollowed Virat on Instagram. While it was not known why Rohit did that, Virat tried his best to downplay the incident.
While speaking at a press conference, Kohli clarified how the rumors over the rift were being blown out of proportion. “Let me put this on record and say that all if fine between me and Rohit. We are still team mates and will always be. Even off-pitch we have a very good camaraderie. In fact there have been instances when I have ignored Anushka’s WhatsApp messages, but always replied to Rohit’s. Will you still that there is a rift,” questioned Kohli, hoping to put an end to the rumors.
Kohli even stated that he is not the kind of person to hide his feelings. “It clearly shows on my face. I mean remember how I got rid of Anil Kumble and got Shastri as our coach. I am not the one to hide,” he said emphatically.
Coach Shastri too urged the media to put an end to this nonsense. “They like Jai and Veeru. I have been part of dressing rooms discussion and so many daaru parties. They have chakna from the same plate, drinks from the same bottle. What else could be a better indicator of their friendship,” he asked.
The Indian skippers revelation however did not go down well with Anushka, who sources say was miffed at Virat ignoring her messages. Sources say that the actress may not accompany the team for the West Indies tour.
There were also speculations that the actress unfollowed the Indian skipper on social media, but it couldn’t be verified.
