3 Cheerleaders associated with Mumbai Indians franchise ran away from the Wankhede stadium yesterday after watching the disastrous performance of the home team.
Eyewitness say that the cheerleaders made a quick exit just after the 9th wicket fell and are still untraceable.
Source from inside the Mumbai Indians camp say that the cheerleaders were dejected with the underwhelming performance of the team and yesterday’s match could have been the last straw.
“One of them confided a few days back and said that she need a cheerleader herself to lift her spirits,” said an insider who didn’t wish to be named.
With the team languishing at the bottom of the points table, the disappearance of the cheerleaders has added to their worries.
A team meeting was hours after the match ended to mitigate the situation. Apparently, a few team players have volunteered to do the cheer-leading for the team.
Players were seen in mini skirts and with pompoms practicing their dance moves. But not everyone is happy with this idea. Captain Rohit Sharma was unequivocally against this idea and said that it could be counterproductive and demotivate players.
The players also shot a video requesting the cheerleaders to come back and promised to win their next IPL match.
Whatever their strategy, if the team doesn’t win the next match, it could spell trouble for the franchise on and well as off the field.
