New Delhi: Victims of video making app TikTok have shot through the roof in recent days and finally Union Cabinet has taken a note of it.
TikTok has been declared a national emergency by Union Cabinet after an emergency meeting called this morning to discuss steps to combat the rising addiction of the app.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, “We have taken note of this rising epidemic called TikTok that has affected people from every age group in this country. Instead of running pakoda stalls, youth of the country is busy making these stupid videos. Instead of attending pariksha pe charcha, students are sharing these videos. Entire country is affected and that is why we had to declare it a national emergency.”
“This is a Chinese app and could be part of the intellectual warfare waged on us by the Chinese government. By making our entire population addicted to this app, the Chinese could be planning to destabilise our economy. We have to investigate that external threat further and see the details of the people running this app,” he added.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra has attacked Rahul Gandhi for the growing addiction to TikTok among Indians. He said, “Isn’t it amazing that TikTok started growing in India few months after Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with Chinese Ministers at Kailash Mansarovar? Did Rahul Gandhi tell the Chinese about our love for stupid, unproductive apps so that they can assault us with similar apps? He must come clean and accept what he discussed.”
Congress has refused to comment on Mr. Patra’s accusations but Priyanka Gandhi did release a TikTok video with Indira Gandhi’s speech playing in the background.
Meanwhile, Union cabinet decided that they will look at the increasing cases of Swine Flu in the country after combating TikTok.
